King’s College Hospital London in Dubai, located in Dubai Hills. The 100-bedfacility provides surgical operations, including general surgery and paediatric orthopaedic cases. King’s College also operates two clinics in Dubai and one in Abu Dhabi.
The hospital was a joint venture between Al Tayer Group, Dubai Investments, and the UK-based Ashmore Group. The facility acts as a direct link to King’s College Hospital in London, a leading teaching hospital from the UK.
The King’s College Hospital project was valued at $200m (AED734m), with a gross floor area (GFA) of 24,500m2 and a built-up area of 30,500m2.Itincluded 100-beds to accommodate inpatient across 7 floors. Perkins +Will were appointed lead designer alongside the architect of record; WME. Shapoorji Pallonji Middle East were appointed as Design &Build contractors. MJ Medical provided a wide range of health planning services during design development.
Shyam was appointed to assist the project management of the hospital, reporting on weekly progress, and managing the procurement of materials across the project. The project was delivered on time, and AED 7 million under budget.
